Only if it's failing all over the place. A well-bonded existing coating that has less than 25% of peeling or bare spots gets sanded clean and dull, then our Epoxy Bonding Primer goes down to create permanent adhesion between the old surface and the new system — no full removal. Grind off only areas that are peeling or delaminated. If more than 25% of the floor is failing, then it means the rest of the floor will start peeling, and our coating will peel off with it, so a full diamond grind removal is necessary. If you feel your existing coating might still be bonded to the floor properly, test it by scoring a 12" x12" area in 1/4" squares with a utility knife, then fully cover it with a good quality duct tape and rip it off. If less than 10% of the squares come off, you're ok to go over it; if more than 10% come off, the rest of the coating has to come off.
