Question: How do I coat over my control joints?
Answer: Very easily! Simply feather the epoxy across the joint with your roller. If you feel like you rolled too much material into it you can run a brush down the control joint to smooth the epoxy out. If you think there's not enough, just roll a little more over it and smooth out with a brush if need be. Once done, the control joints will look much better to you than they did unfinished, and now dirt and debris will not get stuck in them either.
Question: Is the Armor Chip Epoxy waterproof & mildew proof?
Answer: Yes, the epoxy is 100% waterproof and mildew-proof. It's also impervious to road salts and all vehicle fluids. If your garage is over an occupied space, we recommend the purchase of our Cove Base kits to form a radiused curb at the floor/wall junction. This eliminates the 90-degree angle that can crack the epoxy if your floor settles a little bit. With the cove base, you run the epoxy across the floor and right up the cove base, forming a waterproof tub.
Question: Should I fill in the control joints of my floor?
Answer: If your floor is less than 5 years old, you should not fill it in since the floor may not have finished settling. If your floor is older, you can fill it in with either our Instant Crack Repair Compound or Crack Repair Mortar. We always recommend not filling them in. Once the control joints are finished with the epoxy coating, they add dimension to the floor and make it look like large slabs of granite or marble. Prior to coating the control joints would accumulate dirt and debris but now nothing will stick in the joints, a simple shot with a leaf blower clears out anything that might be in there.
