You should sand and or power wash previously painted, new, weathered, or previously stained wood to remove oxidation, loose fibers, and mill glaze. Use the Armor Renew Primer first then coat with Super Deck Paint. Always wear proper protection when sanding any type of coating. Proper preparation and priming ensures optimal adhesion and long-term performance.
